I think it is great that the old factory is retained in the markets shopping centre in West End.
Like Anne I have fond memories of the Tristrams soft drinks you will able to buy and the great fun it was 'collecting empties' to take to the shop to get theepence or something like that.
I think West End has kept an icon of Tristrams so that when people do come through West End and have a look at it they will know it was the Tristrams Factory. When I was living in the area 20 years ago, I remember it had just moved out of there before Jack the Slasher moved in.
Our current project is 'Stories and Songs of Boundary Street'.
We'll be: - collecting and telling stories about - creating, singing and performing new songs about - creating, projecting and uploading new digital stories about
Boundary Street West End.
So if you live in West End, or there abouts, and would like to help us get this project really singing, please come along to:
The Croquet Club Community Hall, 91 Cordelia Street (in Musgrave Park), West End
from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm most Saturdays till the West End Live Festival on Sunday the 19th September, 2010.
The West End Digital Story Space project has been funded through a successful application to Brisbane City Council's Community Grants program.
Hello, we're glad you dropped by. We need your help to distribute and sell our West End Digital Stories DVD. It's only $10 or $15 posted and it's all about West End (of course). It makes a great present with a difference and is a good example of how to help build and maintain a diverse and caring community.
The West End Digital Story Space is a project of the West End Community Storytelling Group. We meet regularly and share stories. If you'd like to know when the next evening is on or purchase one of our DVDs please call Daryll or Karen ph. 3846 3135 or send us an email at westendstories@storytell.com.au
